Hair Loss

Hair Loss affects people of all ages, sexes and races. I actually had bald patches at one point. I had been through a divorce and was stressed to the max. I ended up going to the dermatologist to find out what was wrong with me. When the doctor came in and told me that I had Alopecia, I was ready to burst into tears. Alopecia can be caused by heredity and by stress. No one in my family suffered from this as know so it must have been caused by stress. What happens is, the body notices hair follicles and it doesn't recognize them as belonging to you, so it lets them go. Some people are able to regrow their hair and never have another episode. Others are unable to reproduce the hair in that specific spot and may end up losing hair in other spots as well. Luckily, after receiving injections and using a special mousse, I was able to grow hair in those spots and I have not had a repeat problem. I understand where people are coming from when they complain about hair loss and th…

Review: No Limits by Sara Morgan

I've always wanted to work for myself. It's not that I hate authority, it's just that I don't want to spend all my time making millions of dollars for some company who is paying me minimum wage. (A bit of an exaggeration on my part but it's the truth for some.) I honestly feel like we've become a slave to corporations. I've had this discussion several times with my family and friends and I can't seem to shake my feelings about this. I also can't stand crooked businessmen/businesswomen. I have been known to just walk out of a job with no explanation, no notice, no nothing. I don't feel bad about it either. One job I had, the owner messed with the information on my computer. If anyone found out, it would have looked like I was the person lying about our performance. I'm a bit anal retentive and I take really good notes and I'm highly organized. Thank God this was the case! Otherwise, I never would have known that someone had f…

Addiction affects everyone. The actions of someone you love can have an enormous impact on the people around them. Depression and addiction go hand in hand. I've heard people say "she's doing it to herself, it's her own fault". While some people do decide to escape the burdens life has forced upon them, they usually don't see any other way to numb the pain. I suffer from depression and while I've never turned to alcohol or harsh drugs, I do understand why people feel like that is their only way out. When you get so far down that you don't care if you live to see tomorrow, you really don't care about what will happen in the future. Depression makes you blind and addiction offers a solution. When given the opportunity to numb your pain, you will do a lot of things that wouldn't even cross your mind if you weren't hurting so bad. Sober Living is not an easy thing for addicts but it is possible. With understanding family and friends,…

Phone Cards & Calling Cards

I have had to use my share of international calling cards. My husband and I actually attended the same high school, but we had lost touch and one day we just so happened to find each other. Before we were married, he decided to join the Army. He went through basic training and then went on to Airborne school for his training. He ended up being stationed in Germany and I ended up staying here in the US. As you can imagine, the phone calls could get pretty expensive. I'm so glad there are Prepaid Phone Card ! I had to wait for him to call me most of the time because I never knew when he would be free to talk. I purchased a bunch of calling cards and mailed them to him. This saved us a lot of money. A lot of the military spouses that I had met felt the same way I do about International Phone Cards, they are a necessity for our troops. Families missing their soldiers have enough to worry about and they shouldn't be concerned with shortening phone calls in order to save …

Review & Giveaway: Reading Glasses

As you all know, I am a Readaholic. I actually have really good vision but sometimes I find myself having trouble reading. This usually happens only when I'm reading one of those paperbacks that have a font size of 1 (I'm exaggerating a bit but that's how it feels). When I was given the chance to review a pair of glasses from Reading Glasses Shopper, I was really excited to test them out. Originally I had asked for The Bayside in black but I received the brown because the black were out of stock. This actually worked out for the best because the brown go great with my hair and eyes. I tested these babies out while reading a paperback and I felt like someone had turned on a light. I felt the AHHHH, hallelujah feeling. The font went from a 1 to a 14! It was amazing.

One of my readers will receive a $25 gift certificate for a new pair of reading glasses.

Our Furry Friends

I'm sure most of you know that I'm a dog lover. I take care of my dogs like they are my kids. I get so excited when they learn something new. I make sure that they have food and a roof over their head. I also make sure they are healthy by taking them to the vet regularly for checkups. I have never had a problem with fleas or ticks. I believe that prevention is the best way to go when it comes to humans and our furry friends. I've used Frontline Plus on all of my dogs and I've never had a problem, so I'm planning on sticking to what I know until a problem presents itself. I've heard great things about Advantage Flea, so if I end up needing to switch, that will be my next option. Every back up needs a back up, so next on my list is Promeris for Dogs. The medicine dosage goes hand in hand with the size of your dog. There are different colors for different weights, so if you have multiple dogs who range in size, this should help you make sure the right do…

Need Some Cash?

There have been a couple times in my life when I have been in desperate need of upfront cash. Living paycheck to paycheck isn't always easy and when an emergency pops up, it can not only physically drain you, it can actually harm you. One time I was having extreme pain in my mouth. I went to the dentist and found out that my wisdom tooth was coming in crooked and pushing against my other tooth. The problem was, I had only been at my job for a couple of weeks and my dental insurance wouldn't kick in until I had been there ninety days. The pain became more and more unbearable and I had no idea what I was going to do. This tooth was still below the gum line so I would have to be put under during the removal. It cost over $800. That's a whole lot of money to a recent high school graduate who was about to start college and just started working full time. I could only afford half of the payment at the time and I had not been on my job long enough to be approved for a ca…

My husband and I were channel surfing and we came across truTV. I had seen a few commercials but I hadn't actually had a chance to watch it until recently. I used to be addicted to COPS. I must admit that I prefer truTV's Most Daring. The high speed chases are amazing! My heart starts pumping faster just watching these videos. I feel like I'm right there while the video's being filmed. I can't believe some of the crazy things people do! I kept having to remind myself that these people aren't actors or stunt doubles. I can't believe some of these people were just able to walk away without a scratch. In one of truTV video, a man literally drops from the rooftop of a building. During the Bring a Friend, Rob a Bank video, I had to keep reminding myself to breathe. These videos are full of suspense and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Most Daring is all new and shows at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. What will you be watching on Wednesday? Make sure…

Addicted to Video Games

Are you addicted to video games? There are times when I become so focused on a game I'm playing that I am oblivious to what is going on around me. My favorite games are the ones that you can play with friends. It's so much fun to compete with friends and family while enjoying a good game. When I play one of these games with my husband, I like to play the ones where we are fighting against each other.

How cool would it be to be able to play along with friends with a multiplayer iphone game platform? Tetris is my favorite cell phone game and I would really enjoy playing against someone. I play games on my phone when I'm waiting in the waiting room at the doctor's office, waiting for a friend to finish getting ready and when I find that I'm bored. My friends and I used to all play snake at the same time but since we couldn't actually play together, we would make up our own rules. This will be great for my nephew when he gets older as well because it will…

Have you ever thought about promotional clothing?  I would love to have a Readaholic shirt.  Actually, I would like to have a lot of Readaholic items.  I like to express who I am through my belongings, whether it is advertising for a company I love or just making a person statement.  Watermark has everything you need to promote yourself or your business.  They have everything from duffel bags to golf balls and tees that can be personalized.  There are also some really cool items that would be perfect for a company picnic, like the Internet Flyer, Adirondack Recliner and the Koozle Picnic Basket.

Review & Giveaway: Celery Street

As you all know I love to shop for Eco-friendly products. I also love to write (and type) about what is on my mind.  It's such a great way to release feelings that would otherwise be kept balled up inside.  There have been a lot of times that I have felt sad or mad and had no idea why I felt that way until I sat down with a pen and paper.  Sometimes I would figure out what was hiding in my head and other times I just poured words onto the paper and when I was finished, I realized I had written a poem or song.  I've always loved having pretty journals and I found a gorgeous one - Calligraphic Shafa Writing Journal. Celery Street's journals are made with acid-free paper and the binder boards are made with 100% recycled paper. It is possible to find a chic and stylish journal and environmentally friendly.

Every year I end up going to a haunted boat called USS Nightmare. I'm not afraid of spiders, rats, snakes or anything like that. My weakness is clowns.  I have been scared of clowns since I was two years old.  I don't know why I freaked out when my Grandma brought out my birthday cake and big, ugly clown was in the center. Last year, I was walking through this haunted boat and I saw that there was a ball pit similar to the ones kids play in at Chuck-E-Cheese. I stepped into the pit and saw a clown standing in one of the corners.  When I looked the other way I saw two more clowns. Fear shook me to my core. I kept falling and I had trouble standing up. My friends who were with me at the time thought my fear was hilarious.

Seat Heaven

Wouldn't it be nice to have home theater seating in your living room or family room? I had no idea that you could purchase this for your home and spend the same as you would on a nice new couch. My husband and I love to watch movies together but we don't like to go to the cinema because it's too expensive and there are always rude people talking and interrupting the movie. We would much rather sit at home where it's nice and quiet and relax while watching movies. Every now and then there is a movie that comes out that we just can't wait to see, so we end up visiting the theater (cough, Twilight). It's at that time that I start wishing we had recliners and drink holders. And maybe a teenager with a flashlight coming down the aisle making sure no one has their feet on the seats. Seriously though, I want to have the whole cinema experience without the crowd, sticky floors and people throwing popcorn. I also like being able to pause a movie if an unexpected…
