Test Drive

When my husband and I were dating, we would go test drive cars just for fun. We rode around in one nissan altima that I really liked. It was so smooth and comfortable. A few months ago, we decided to ride around in a nissan versa and I was really impressed with that model as well.

Another car that we drove around, merely for fun was the audi q7. It was a nice ride and everything but I can't really picture us going out and purchasing one.

My husband wanted to test drive a toyota tacoma so we took it out and it just reinforced the idea that we want a vehicle that sits up higher off the ground. I feel safer that way.

Review & Giveaway: Twice Bitten by Chloe Neill

Chicago has become the Shapeshifters haven. The master Vampire, Ethan, who has been in Chicago for some time, has decided to all a truce with the Shapeshifters and their leader, Gabriel. Ethan even gave the Shapeshifting leader his newest vampire as a bodyguard and her name is Merit. This wasn't just done as a favor to the Shapeshifters, Ethan has a hidden agenda which is having Merit work as a spy. When Gabriel's life is in danger, Merit soon figures out that this is going to be a really tough job.

The really cool thing about this book is Merit. I was rooting for her throughout the whole book. She's a kick-ass chic with wits. Five stars!

I could really use a nice watch. A lot of people I know are now using their cell phones to tell them the time but a lot of them also let their cell phone battery die and then they end up asking around to find out what time it is. Or they end up sitting their phone down somewhere and forgetting where they put it. I’m guilty of that too.

I really like the fact that watches can double as a fashion accessory. I want a watch that turns heads. I don't wear jewelry very often and I would feel a lot more comfortable wearing a traser h3 watch than wearing a tennis bracelet. I think my husband is the real reason I feel this way. He loves having a nice watch and whenever I look at his wrist, it looks nice because it's not bare.

My birthday is coming up and I'm thinking about asking for a gorgeous watch. I want one that is loud, like a bright red or purple. It would be really cool to get a watch that matches one of my purses. I want to be stylish and I always feel better whe…

Elaina knows what she wants to do with the rest of her life which is working as an FBI profiler.  Who could have guessed that her first case would be so overwhelming?  There's a serial killer on the loose and he just keeps getting nastier and nastier with each new murder.

Elaina finds herself growing close to Troy, a true crime writer.  She's not sure why she is wasting time with this gorgeous player but the more time they spend together, the more Elaina likes him.  Can they work together to catch this maniac before he makes Elaina one of his unlucky victims?

This is the first book of Laura's that I've read and I'm hooked!  She's an amazing author!  The characters and the story captivated me.  Now I just need to get a hold of some more of her books.

Review: The Making of a Duchess by Shana Galen

Sarah has no idea what it takes to be a spy. How can she possibly gain enough information to prove that the French duke, Julien is a traitor? If she doesn't do this though, her life will drastically change and she is determined to not let that happen.

At first, her only problem seems to be collecting evidence but as she gets closer to Julien, she realizes that her feelings for him are clouding the job she is supposed to complete. Will they be able to work past this and live happily ever after or will both of them be condemned to a life apart?

This is probably one of my favorite historical romances. The plot was amazing and Shana's writing technique kept me intrigued from beginning to end.

Review: Saint Francis Couture

What girl doesn't like a new pair of shoes and a matching purse?  I love animal print styles but as an animal lover, I don't purchase animal print unless it's man made so to speak.  Tere, the creator of Saint Francis Couture is named after Saint Francis because he is the patron saint of animals.  "I thought the world needed some high fashion, moderately priced, comfortable, but sexy, shoes and accessories that were cruelty free," said Tere. "So I started drawing. Saint Francis must have helped me because I had no idea how to draw."

I don't have the balance to wear heels.  I've tried and I end up looking like one of those klutzy girls who fall all over the place.  These gorgeous African Sandal Wedge is comfy and trendy all at the same time.  The open toe is nice because you can show off painted toenails.  The wedges look great with a pair of jeans or something dressy.  The thing that shocked me the most about these sandals is how comfortable the…

Review: Grey Pine by T. Lloyd Winetsky

Phillip didn't have the picture perfect childhood. His father is in love with the bottle and his mom passed away. When Mount Saint Helen erupts, Philips first thought is to learn everything he can about this massive outburst as he can. The disaster hits home and from that point on he finds himself in situations he never could have fathomed.

Phillip is one of those characters that feels oh-so-real. He's the type of person that you can relate to and one who you can't help but like right off the bat. I give this book two thumbs up!

I love short stories that give me a sample of other authors writing style. There have been several times that I have purchased a collection of short stories or an anthology and ended up getting hooked on some of the authors after reading one short piece.  One great thing about this book is that it covers …

I can't believe how much a new pair of prescription eyeglasses are. I'm the type of person who goes through three or four pairs of glasses a year. I sit on a pair, stand on a pair and lose a pair. Everyone wants to save money but how much is your sight worth? I'm sure you have heard of Zenni Optical. They sell eyeglasses at low, low prices. I've been reading a really interesting forum about Zinni Optical. At first I thought it was a great idea but now I'm beginning to question myself. Sight is extremely important. While Zinni is more than budget friendly, are they really helping you at all? They want you to go to a professional eye doctor to get your Pupillary Distance (PD) with measures the distance between the pupils of your eyes. Why should an eye doctor give you this information if he is not making a profit? Also, everyone's face isn't the same. I have one ear that is up higher than the other. Because of this, I have to mess with glasses and sunglasses …

Review: The Jagged Years of Ruthie J. by Ruth Simkin

Ruthie is the complete opposite of everyone in her family. She tells it like she sees it and does what she wants, when she wants. As a teen, she was diagnosed with epilepsy. At the time, epilepsy was thought to be a mental illness and her family sent her to Chestnut Lodge, a mental hospital. Her experience there is one of many nightmares. One of the doctors was crazy but there was one doctor that she clicked with and this doctor became a friend who helped Ruthie pick up the pieces in her life.

This book is one of the most heartfelt books I have ever read. I suffer from depression and I know how frustrating it can be. People ask you questions that you don't have the answers to. If you had the answers, you wouldn't be depressed. Anyway, I felt like Ruthie was a kindred spirit and through this book, I'm sure she will help a lot of people take the time to look inside themselves and realize that they are a survivor. We all may not go through the exact same things …

Review: The Souls of the Fire Dragon by John Wrieden

A dystopian world with an oppressive government controlled by the Patrician, its ruthless leader, and the Watchman - a secret police.

The Watchman Wreak Havoc...
A large poster near the Watchmen’s headquarters simply read, “THE WATCHMEN ARE WATCHING YOU!”

The House of Fate
Inside an old gothic mansion, Death meets with his father Fate. “Someone has cheated me,” Fate informs his son. Fate has a plan. “The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference. Wake up, Akea, and see the truth.”

The Power and the Fury
Akea was alone; no one could stop or control him. His released fury seemed limitless. A wave of energy rolled over the Watchmen, like energy from an atom bomb rolled up into a small white ribbon.

Akea and Argonath
Some distance ahead, Akea saw something. It looked like a house-sized boulder. On closer inspection, he realized it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Argonath, a dragon, sat watching the three men approach her.

Review & Giveaway: Tropical Traditions Antioxidant Omega 3 Greens

I have suffered from digestive problems for a really long time. I was in a lot of pain a couple of years ago and I had a lot of tests run. I have Irritable Bowel, signs of Celiac Disease, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and I had my gallbladder removed. After taking medications, Irritable Bowel and GERD symptoms were manageable. At that time I was in so much pain and I just knew that something was wrong and that I needed to have my gallbladder removed. After several tests, I was still told that my gallbladder was fine. I understand that doctors are knowledgeable but I know my body better than anyone else. Finally, I had a laparoscopy done and my gallbladder removed immediately. The day after my surgery, I was sore and everything but I still felt better than I had the previous month. A similar thing happened with my appendix years ago as well. The tests showed that everything was fine but as soon as they got in my belly and got up close and personal with my organs, th…

Review & Giveaway: Wrong by David Freedman

Our investments are devastated, obesity is epidemic, test scores are in decline, blue-chip companies circle the drain, and popular medications turn out to be ineffective and even dangerous. What happened? Didn't we listen to the scientists, economists and other experts who promised us that if we followed their advice all would be well? Actually, those experts are a big reason we're in this mess. And, according to acclaimed business and science writer David H. Freedman, such expert counsel usually turns out to be wrong--often wildly so.

There is so much information in this book that make you really start to think about what "experts" say.  I have always been leery about the information I receive from doctors and other professionals.  Like so many things in life, there is never a clear cut answer.  It all depends on interpretation.  I liked having my thoughts reinforced with David's book.
Wrong by David Freedman Little, Brown and Company …

Have you ever thought about how much time people spend in the bathroom?  That's where we get cleaned up, fix our hair, put on makeup, etc.  There are two rooms in the house that I think should be the cleanest.  One is the kitchen and the other is the bathroom.  Being able to get ready in front of a vanity makes it so much easier to get ready.   Everything has it's own place.

Review: Office Supplies from CSN

I am seriously a HUGE fan of CSN Stores. They have everything! When I received an email telling me that I could review their products, I was really happy. I decided to stock up on office supplies. Working from home is great and I had been wanting to set up a system with the right tools. Now I have them!

If you ask me, organization is key.  Before receiving the following products, I felt frazzled.  I did have a system but it was a lot harder to keep track of everything.  Here are some of the items I received.  (If you would like to see more, go here.)

The Rolodex Mesh Pencil Cup Organzer with 4 Compartments is the perfect home for my pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, paper clips and post-it notes.  Everything has it's own little place which makes working a lot easier.  I really like the mesh design, it looks really good on my desk.
